Education And Public Diplomacy In Action: World Class Scholars

Public diplomacy, usually viewed as a nation-to-nation endeavor, is also active at the level of the U.S. state and local governments. One example is a new initiative based in South Carolina: World Class Scholars is a real-time online, cultural and educational exchange for grades 1 to 12.  It began in 2012, and after four years of pilot projects now has over 100 schools in 26 countries in the program. Last March, WCS launched globally as an independent project with a three year goal of connecting 10,000 schools with 1 million students. The long term goal is both simple and audacious: Be the premier place worldwide for students to ‘connect learn and share’. More about World Class Scholars at http://www.envisionsc.org/schools.php
